What’s In Store

I used to help my father at the store
And once back home would carry heavier things,
Or so I thought, not seeing all he bore
Feeling alone, a lonely weight age brings.
During the week he waited for me: I
Would wait for him slow walking while we shopped.
He missed me I knew when I was not by;
I miss him far more since our shopping stopped,
Unable not to think of him, each time
Alone now shopping I feel heaviness
He must have known; I carry it now while I’m
Without him carrying on his loneliness,
With even less alone than he to do,
No one to shop with to look forward to.

It's about time someone said something. Why not I? And what do I see in that? What do you see? We shall see. Otherwise what is there to say? Who are we without that?
